pure ftp and permissions help
right i had pure ftp running basic for ages with login as root
as my server has got more busy a few members have asked for personal webspace so i said yes ![]() anyway i re-compiled with virtual accounts which seemed to go fine i changed it so it would start pure ftp like this: /usr/local/sbin/pure-ftpd -j -lpuredb:/etc/pureftpd.pdb everything works sweet i made the accounts for my members all happy but i tried to make a virtual user with root access as i cant change any files or delete or anything with virtual account i made for myselfi tried this pure-pw useradd root -u root -D /home/ but i get this message: You must give (non-root) uid and gid basicly how can i make a virtual account for myself that can have file permssions the same as root to all my server thanks very much for reading i am desperate ![]() Regards Mick D
