Regarding Putty
Hi there,
I'd like to connect to my university's server via Putty, and send some files from my PC at home to my personal account at the university. I am able to connect to university account, but I can only view the files stored there. How can I access the files stored on my PC at home and send them to that account (univ) using Putty? Thank you for any help you can provide me with (Sorry if the above text is a bit amibguous!) Regards |

If you ran an ftp server on your PC you could simply ftp to the machine and download them that way. You could (but probably would not want to ) run a webserver on the machine and access them with wget. You could do it a number of strange and delightful ways.

If you have putty you should have psftp. Use the PUT command.
PUT myfile.txt If you have an option to use a more GUI user friendly tool (smartFTP, etc) I would go that way. XP supports FTP out of the box just ftp://mysite.com in the address bar of windows explorer.

You could use Filezilla or WinSCP (Assuming you're on windows, filezilla should have linux support) to transfer files back and forth over SFTP (Which is just FTP over an encrypted SSH connection). SCP is really nice if you are comfortable with a console session, you'll notice filezilla to be a bit slower than SCP, most likely.
