Serv-U and problems...

Hey guys,
im new to this whole ftp thing, but i really wanna set up a server from my pc, so that my friends can acess the data i supply to them... (Mostly Mp3, videos etc...)

I will now tell you the set up of my computer so you can help me out...
I have a DSL connection at 512 KB/s, with a Thomson/Alacatel Speedtouch modem (the modem browser address is http://10.0.0.138), I have the new McAfee Security center running in the background, and i also have netlimiter to equal things out...

I have gone to no-ip.com and have create several hosts, none of which worked in my serv-u.
i have
barf.servebeer.com
barf.zapto.org
barf.bounceme.net
barf.myftp.org

Now whne i created these hosts, i had no idea which setting to choose... DNS Host (A), DNS Host (Robin Round), DNS Alias (Cname), port 80 redirect and web redirect.

Now.
When i setup my whole server entering the address, the ports, etc. and i try to connect, i get a pop up message saying unable to coneect to server "the server ive chosen" on port 21.

After some time, i was like, fine ill put my ip address on, and do it that way, but then i get a pop up message saying Insufficient priviliges to do maintenance for user.... bla bla bla.

Does anyone know whats wrong?

While staring at the screen trying to think of something, and playing around with the firewall settings, i opened up port 80 (the web server port) and entered my ip address as the ftp address... now, the serv u says my server is running, but about 2 seconds later, a pop up comes up saying,

unable to log on at this time, at server "my ip adress" port 80.

i think im getting closer...
