Unknown Host

Hi, I am newbie to FTP,

I am trying to open a connection

using open command and the host address, howver i get an error saying Unknown Host..

like

Code:
ftp> Open test.address.com

Can anyone help?

You're typing the address wrong would be my guess.

But it's only going to be a guess as I don't know the domain. If the url were correct, then it would give you another error if something were wrong.. But by it saying unknown host, it's not finding a host with that name....

Make sure you're typing it correctly. If you're trying ftp.domain.com, try just domain.com ... FTP servers do not require to ftp in to a subdomain such as ftp.domain.com

can i know how you are trying to connect to the ftp server from your local PC?? which kind of the software you are using>> so i can let you know..what is your host address given ??
