vsftpd

i just installed vsftpd via yum on redhat fedora core 2

everything works perfectly via ssh, ftp localhost

but, when i login via WS_FTP and try and get a directory listing (LIST) i get 500 unknown command and it will not let me view the directory listing. . . .any ideas?
