Question Windows FTP Mac Problem

Our school has a Windows ftp server that we are to connect to to download homework and upload homework and such, but several of the students that use Mac's have said that they're not able to connect. Is there a configuration option such as "Allow/Disallow Macs to connect" haha or something, or are Macs just not able to connect to a Windows FTP server?

Any help greatly appreciated.
