Why are ftps to my linux box so slow?

Hi guys. I've installed redhat linux 8.0 and I'm using UltraEdit to do php scripting. However, whenever I "save to ftp", the process is pretty slow. I know that most ftp clients (I'll assume the same with UltraEdit) allow you to mess around with a "PASV" mode configuration. However, I'm thinking that there's a configuration on the Linux box that I can mess with. I say this because when I connect to my web site host and use UltraEdit, these issues don't show up. They're also using redhat. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

It's not so much to do with whether you're running Redhat or not, but what FTP software you're running. You can normally find this out by typing:
    Code:
    rpm -qa | grep ftp
    at a command prompt.
