FTP not prompting User Name & Password in IE8

    Hello All,

while typing ftp with website name is not prompting username & password in IE8. I know for security reason Microsoft has restricted after release of IE7.

On the other side i have seen some example that FTP User Name & Password asking perfectly for couple of website (i.e. photobox's ftp)

I think they have used some FTP batch file, Anybody can help me out here?

    Thanks in advance.

    Anonymouse Access

The only reason I can think of for IE8 not asking username/password is that you have anonymous access enabled on the server, you will have to disable it on the server.

Does it prompt in other browsers? (Firefox, IE7, Safari, Chrome, etc...)

You are typing ftp:// and not http:// right?

What does it do when you access the URL in question? (Error message, anything displayed on the page...)

Try cleaning your cookies and temp files (with the browser closed) and then retry.

Can you view other sites in IE?

Try going to Internet Options within Internet Explorer, and under the Connections tab, go to LAN Settings and make sure "Automatically detect" is checked.
