I have a game idea and I'd like some feedback and if anyone wants 2 join the dev team
I've had a game idea for the last 3 years and I'd like some feedback and if anyone would like to join the development team.
The game is going to be either called School Brawl or Fight Academy, as the title(s) suggests it's going to be a fighting game set in a school. It's set in a post-apocalyptic Britain (date not specified, but sometime in the future), what happened was 20 years before there was the General Election and a new party came into power. They had really, really big apirations and they wanted to make Britain have an empire again so they started producing bio-weapons and new weapons, China became interested in the new weapons and Britain and China had a deal so that they would only sell their new weapons to China. (I'll get to the main stuff in a bit, I'm just setting the time period) After a while the british and chinese armies went into Canada, Australia and New Zealand and took control of them. The US suddenly became interested in the weapons and to set a good example to the rest of the world became allies with Russia (who were also interested in the weapons) to go to war with Britain and China. Well the war ends with London being destroyed, the royal family killed, the weapons being lost and "all" the members, benefactors and supporters of the party killed. (Anything before this is not set in stone yet) Due to the war, there was many orphans across the country, and they had to have a presidential election because of the royal family's death. Well a president is elected and his friend DJ Thompson (the main villain) decides that he's going to create schools all around the country for the orphans to live in and to aid in the country's recovery. The president being pleased with the idea decides to give him funding for it and the schools are built. What the preisdent doesn't know however is that DJ Thompson was a supporter of the party who came into power just before the war, and has similar ideals, with his group situated all over the world (The Teachers Union) he uses the schools to train children to become soldiers in his group.
Jump forward 15 years and it shows his schools are thriving and that the Teachers Union is still mostly unheard of, it shows the 7 main characters Nate, James, Caldridge, Kyle, Ant, Jim and Dean moving into a house that Ant bought as he owns a multi million pound business along with Dean and another character Wade. They've been transfered from another of DJ Thompson's schools to the main one where all the best students go and where the Teachers Union's main headquarters is. It shows them moving in and getting used to the town, and beginning at their new school. During their first week (which isn't really important for the plot) they hear about a tag-team fighting tournament and decide to enter, depending on who you choose to play as changes who your partner is and it basically serves as a tutorial, after the fighting tournament, they witness the death of another student at the hands of a teacher, they tell some other people and they just think that they're trying to get attention and ignore it so you have to prove that it happened, they prove it and they decide to investigate into what's going on as they're told that occasionaly a student disappears from time to time without a trace so they decide to find out what's going on, killing teachers and travelling around the world along the way.
By the way this is just summary of the beginning and the plot is a lot more established and the gameplay mechanics are almost done too, so if you want to know anything else post what you want to know and I'll answer it in another post.

1. Why do you think anyone in britain would survive if it would start war against US and RF as two biggest and most powerful armies in the world (except China hehe those f***rs own the galaxy).
2. Why would british scientists lol invest new weapon? Do you not watch telly? The only research they do is how many pints of beer you need to drink to pee out a pint and not a drop more etc.
3. Why all this is necessary to make people fight in school?
(lights up a big fat joint)
There is something for you to think about. Maybe there should be a teacher who is a pretty young aftergrad who decides to make some money and invites kids from school gangs to join his club in gym after lessons so they can make some extra money? School fights, drugs, women and parents involved.
Just think dude. Post-apocalyptic British school..1!!??! WTF!? It must be in underground and look like a bunker. But there is a problem. Britain decided not to use their underground as a bunker (France and Russia did).
I think you should really stop taking weed of that dealer and think of another game idea.

You asking for a comment you get a comment
I'd argue that fiction can seem realistic. And totally unbelievable fiction will make it harder for people to suspend their disbelief.

alright well im slightly interested in the story but, and hear me out. in my version the kids would investigate but only that school. then they would discover something more sinister that the teachers are doing and then get caught up in something they wish they didnt. dunno what but something emmersive. i like your story but it needs something to pull the player out of reality and into something hellish.
i am young, and only a novice game developer but if the offer still stands im interested. im decent at making landscapes and maps/lvls (in unity3d) and im starting to learn to code so yeah.

Your story goes way beyond what it needs to and is totally unbelievable. I'd tone it down and instead of giving that info all up front have the players find clues as they play. You can start it by stating it's post apocalypse and the various countries are all blaming each other.
How are orphaned students millionaires? Any banking system and most companies would be wiped out from the war.
No girls? Your losing 50% of your potential playing audience.
You must have had some wicked teachers in school. Don't just make it teachers versus orphans, have more factions involved. maybe a rival street gang that could be secretly controlled by a teacher.
anyway it's weird. hope something i mentioned helps... ;-\

Hey, I'm not going to focus on the negative, but the positive...
I like the idea behind your story. You're showing initiative and creativity, which is great. Yes, you should probably try to tie things together with reality, because as it was said before, if it's too unbelievable, it's hard to get player's interested. However, I like the track you're on.
I like to do a little writing every now and then and I would not mind jotting down some things for you.
A suggestion: Instead of posting your stories in this format, go ahead first and write some scripts, or "scenes", to get yourself more familiar with how you want the audience to visualize this era you are setting it in as well as the overall "attitude".
I personally see this with great potential as an extremely violent, dark, gritty, and sadistic game; in a good way. All you have to do now is go back over, revise, edit, etc.
If you need some help, sling it my way, and I'll see what I can do.
Once again, love the initiative. Keep at it.
