Creating a Strategy/Simulation Game - Advice Wanted
I have been thinking recently about giving game developing a shot, Not in the sense of making a game like Civilisation or Company of Heroes or anything like that .... I want to be realistic.
My idea is to make a factory style simulation,
Build your own factory
Buy transport (Trucks/Lorries) to deliver to different destinations
That sort of thing
But before I decide to go ahead with this Mammoth task, I wanted opinions of already game designers on where to begin.
What is the best type of coding for this sort of game
Yes I want it to be partially 3D (Along the lines of the awesome "Prison Architect" type graphics and mechanics) but alot of it will also be text entering and graph reading, Also to create an interactive map so you can choose transport routes for truck and follow them etc.
I know people will want to explain that you can't jump into game design project and I know you can't but I would just love a bit of direction from some one with experience and the know how to do a game along these lines.
Any information or replies will be appreciated Thanks

Try Unity3D, easy to learn and prototype.
