basic html/css help needed. will pay $$ via paypal

Hey all,

DESIGNER NEEDED FOR DOTLASER.COM WEBSITE PLEASE. MAX BUDGET IS US$80 VIA PAYPAL. FUTURE WORK IS GUARANTEED!

I am developing a new website to sell EXTREME (high) powered green laser pointers but I have small problem: I have ZERO creativity. I have basic web programming language knowledge etc, but I can’t do graphics / layouts. So I need some help…

My site will be VERY reliant on a high (or at least a growing) Google PageRank, so it is essential that the html source takes the need for easy spidering onboard! The site will need to use a <div> layout that will allow googlebot to see the most important stuff at the top of the html source, and the less important stuff at the bottom etc.

There is a nice example of a design I like, with excellent “spiderability” here:

http://www.csszengarden.com/?cssfil.../109.css&page=0

I really like the layout / menu design on this page. The use of gradients here is also very cool. The main problem here is the lack of GREEN in the design. There is no problem with a designer basing their design on this page!

The site will need to have a “green” theme to reflect the nature of my product. I need the following menu links on some kind of sidebar:

• Home (will link to simple html page)
• Buy Now (will link to simple html page)
• >50mW Green (will link to simple html page)
• <5mW Green (will link to simple html page)
• Image Gallery (needs to allow me to easily add new image galleries. Checkout hotscripts.com for some ideas. Would prefer php based solution here)
• FAQ (will link to simple html page)
• Laser Info (will link to simple html page)
• Safety (will link to simple html page)
• Shipping (will link to simple html page)
• Warranty (will link to simple html page)
• Privacy policy (will link to simple html page)
• Contact us (needs to have a form with the design declared in css. The form needs to post form data with php)
• Site map (this will be a basic site map, mainly for the use of google bot etc)

The sidebar links will need to be based make use of TEXT (not images) so I can change everything quickly and easily and add / remove menu items. I want the site to be efficiently designed and have an absolute minimum about of GIF’S/JPG’S.

There also needs to be room on the lower section of the sidebar for some “adsense” style links that will be used for link exchange to help increase my pagerank. They won’t be ACTUAL adsense ads. Just a similar layout to adsense ads. I will keep about 5 exchange links here at all times.

The designer will need to develop a logo for dotLASER to use in the header of the site. I think the “dotLASER” capitalisation format would work best.

You might like to check out the site of our no.1 competitor: megalaser.com. It’s a VERY average design, so I’m not asking that you rely on this for anything! BTW Our laser products are far more powerful than anything megalaser has to offer.

If you think you are up to this task, and have a portfolio of recent work I can take a look at, please get in touch. You can email me directly: dev@dotlaser.com

Well really I see nothing wrong with your current website. The only thing that you need is too produce the links on the left hand side and you'll be set. You have a very nice design as it is and I think that you will gain much trafic as it is, (Just add the links. ^_^

The current site uses mambo open source (similar to phpnuke). I don't like it because:

1. It can be hacked
2. It has be to "upgraded" when bugs / security holes are found
3. I can't edit it offline
4. I need to reply on a whole heaps of 3rd party "modules" to add the necessary features to the site (which also have to be updated)
5. I feel really restricted in the ways inwhich I can customise the site
6. Mambo is designed for sites that have constantly changing content. My content will be pretty static
7. I think we could work out a slightly better design :-)

Sorry if I sound a lil negative. I've thought this through, and that's the reasons I don't want to continue further with Mambo.
