HELP: i need some web design work experience

hi,

i have recently graduated with an IT degree in web design and I want to work as a trainee web designer in order to get some real life experience and build career as a full time web developer in the near future.i have a very basic knowledge of the following only:
html
css
java script
cold fusion(very little)
dreamweaver mx
fireworks mx
ms access

I want to learn asp,asp.net,php,mySQL and MsSQL as part of the trainee job.and one more thing that I would like to work only in Scotland.I have tried to look for trainee jobs online for a long time but nothing really has come up in searches so far.i really want to develop as a web developer in near future and need some real help and guidance from you community guys with some real life experience to share.Could any one plz guide me as what to do in order to find this kind of trainee jobs (in Scotland only due to some reason) apart from looking online for hrs and hrs and getting no where near.Thanks....

Sounds crazy, but goto a local hobbyshop, and ask them if you can lauch them a site. You can start with html, then work your way with php/mysql or whatever you want.

It'll be good to also get in a little over your head at first, so that all the little things will come to you. Like hosting issues, where to host, what you need for .asp hosting over what you need for php hosting, what each of the mysql/msSql mean and how to use each one of them for the situation.

Not only could you find local work, it would be something at your own pace, and you would probably have a large leg up on your boss, tech wise...

It's experience, for not a lot of money, but after 2 years you should have a resume of good experience.

From my point of view it would be much better to work as part of a team. Such experience worth a lot! Much more than any of particular technologies.
