How to get realtime screenshots on web?
Hey
I`am a designer, and I`am looking for a program (or someone to develop it) to put a real time screenshot of my working application direct on a website without using a webmeeting program. The point is: I want to show my workprogress for my customer direct on a website. Ex: I`am in Adobe Illustrator and my customer can attend my website and see mee working in Illustrator and move items around (real time). We communicate by phone and iChat. My customer can just see whats happening on my website. He don't have to do anything. This shuld only be a one way comunication. This should be very easy for my customer. Just go to a web site and watch me work. He don't need to download any programs or Activex. And now problem with firewalls.... Some smart ideas????? Someone that can develop this for me? o jo@anode.no |

1. Don't cross-post.
2. Are you willing to pay?

I have an application that can do screen shots and automatically publish them via ftp to your website.
there is an admin script to disable showing deskshots and show an offline image instead. the display part is all php and the images are taken and published by a small opensource executable. Windows only though.. Currently, I think the fastest refresh rate possible is 1 minute. If that's ok for you, take a look at this post for a demo and links http://extremecontrol.info/f/viewtopic.php?t=22 |

Actually, if you need a faster display of images, it is possible but not economical.
I could develop that for you though but you'd have to be aware of the bandwidth expense involved in streaming real time screen shots at that rate. I wouldn't recommend this as a continuouly running program. |

Well, if you're on a Mac and you're running Mac OS X, you have a built-in web-server right on your computer -- Apache, the world's most-used and most-robust web server. You can also install PHP and MySQL in a snap.
Before you know it, you've got yourself a development server. This is what I have been doing for the past two years while working on an intensive PHP/MySQL commerce site. Mac OS X is a web developer's dream come true !!! I can develop and test everything on my machine. And when I'm ready, I just have to upload a few files and I'm done. Once you have your development environment set up on the Mac, you just need to have an IP address pointing to your computer so the customer can view from anywhere what you've got in the works -- Live! If you want to discuss further, please send me your screen name and we can discuss in iChat. chrisr at scc dot net |
