looking for someone to do some programming for a pocket PC
work for a company that sells measurement equipment in the BeNeLux.
For our sound level meters (SLM) I'm looking for a solution where I could link a pocket PC (probably the Toshiba E750) to a SLM via RS232 and stereo headphone jack and use the pocket PC to store the data.
Reason: the memory of a SLM is too small to do a long term monitoring and I basicly want to use the memory of the pocket PC, we currently use a notebook to do this kind of monitoring but these notebooks consume too mutch energy.
I've been in contact with some people from HP as Toshiba and they both claim the the connection of the SLM and the pocket PC should not be a problem.
I would however need to create the software that can do the job.
What does the software have to do?:
1) First of all the pocket PC would need to capture any ASCII data received on PC serial communications port (one value each second)
The software should be able to automatically store the data in a .txt file each our.
The software should also include a calender where the user could select on which days of the week and between which hours the monitoring should take place (for ex. only from Mon. - Fri between 9 and 5)
2) secondly and at the same time as the first programme (I supose this would have to be in a second programme however) I need software to do some sound recordings based on a trigger level.
Via the stereo headphone jack input om de pocket PC the software should monior the sound and be able to record the sound in a .wav file if the sound above a certain level. (maybe the data from point one could be used to trigger a recording?)
The user should be able to set the following parameters in advance: the duration of the recording (sec), the minimum duration between 2 recordings (sec), the quality of the recording (if possible, not that important), the trigger level and there should also be a calender as in piont one.
I hope my explanation is +- clear and that you might be interested in the job or know someone else who is?
If you would be interested I would be glad to go into further details and specifications.
best regards,
Pieter
