is there a referral/tracking script available similar to the one freeipods.com uses so that i can test start my own similar freewhatever.com site?

I dunno, seems like an entry level Perl or PHP project. A fun one, even. I'd do it for free in perl, plus a thousand dollars moral dissention compensation, and another 500 in apathy compensation :-]

their pages have .aspx at the end of all of them. you can do it in perl and php? how long would it take?

just because something is written in one language (in this case ASP) doesn't mean that it can't be replicated in another... otherwise Hello, World! would have no fame.
