Wanted : Senior Flash Developer for Kids Game
Scholastic, Inc. is seeking an expert Macromedia Flash Developer to work on an educational game for kids. The project includes complex interactivity, databases of questions and arcade-like elements, all woven into a single Flash application to be developed over the course of 6+ months.
The Senior Flash Developer will be responsible for:
- Overall technical direction
- Quickly prototyping game ideas during the design phase
- Structuring the application and writing all code
- Managing the exchange of assets with the design team
- Working with the Quality Assurance team to debug the final application
The ideal candidate:
- Is a true master of the medium, with demonstrable experience developing complex games and applications in ActionScript.
- Has a strong programming background, with experience in other programming languages or software development a plus.
- Welcomes the opportunity to work on a single, ambitious game from design, through production and quality assurance, over the course of 6+ months.
Please note that this is not a design position. Although some design skills will be useful, they are not a requirement and the team will have separate illustrators and animators who will deliver assets already in Flash format.
The position is full-time freelance, starting as soon as possible and working through March 2005, with a strong possibility of additional projects to follow. Working on-site in New York City is preferred, but remote will be considered for the right candidate.
Please send resume and portfolio to snisson@scholastic.com.
