Wanted: Windows (any language) and SQL - can work remote!

I need someone that can write a couple applications for Windows (all OSes), I'm not partial to any language yet. The applications will also interface with a SQL server, so you need some experience with SQL and ODBC or other types of connections.
If you know Mac OSX and Linux, there are two additional applications that I need which do the same thing as one of the Windows apps.
Payment is by the project, so I'll have to give you more details to bid, but email me if you're interested, and tell me what language you would choose for the Windows apps.
Note: one of the Windows apps will be a regular type application, will generate settings files and graphs, and will run on 2k or xp (or later). The other will run only as a service on all Windows versions and will need to be insanely small with minimal network traffic. Both will need to talk to the database.
