General Responsibilities: Web Design Create and coordinate public and internal web pages for various administrative and academic areas Create and implement graphics, artwork, video and other media to enhance web sites Create and implement web design implementation and education plans and strategies for University web resources Applications development Create, develop, implement, and maintain complex, interactive public and internal web applications for various administrative and academic areas Integrate existing and new web applications with existing and new data sources using a variety of web and database technologies Design and implement databases on various platforms in support for web application development Participate in CSU system-wide web applications development projects, dialogs and discussions as required Site Hosting Assist in maintenance of web site infrastructure for University web resources and related web applications Create, install, configure, repair and maintain web applications for University organizations as required Develop applications to facilitate web site hosting and hosting administration for University faculty, staff, and students Accessibility Consulting Serve as a University resource for web accessibility compliance issues Create and implement web accessibility education, monitoring, and repair plans and strategies for University web resources Training and Support Provide information, analysis, and ad hoc support or training for various University leadership, faculty, staff and students on web technology or application issues Create, assemble, and administer training programs and workshops for University faculty, staff, and students on various web-related applications and technologies Provide assistance to Coordinator of Web Services as needed Participate in learning and training opportunities to stay abreast of related emerging technologies, strategies and techniques for web design and web applications development Content Management Implement and support Content Management Systems to facilitate maintenance of existing and new web content Develop and implement content management plans and strategies to facilitate creation, development and maintenance of University web content Perform day-to-day maintenance and updates of web content on public and internal web pages for various administrative and academic areas as required Standards and Practices Maintain awareness of and use industry best practices and standards in web design and applications development Work with outside vendors and 3rd party developers to ensure compliance with enterprise standards and industry best practices Strategy and Planning Provide leadership for the coordination of web design and application development tasks Assist in preparation of web strategy and planning for University web resources Meet with various University leadership and staff to evaluate business processes and develop requirements for appropriate web resources Participate in the development and implementation of University web policy and guidelines Work with web designers, developers, and editors in other University areas to coordinate goals, efforts, and maintenance of enterprise standards and industry best practices Participate in University committees and discussions related to web services or applications development Prepare extensive, detailed documentation for web applications and other web projects REQUIREMENTS OF POSITION: Bachelor's degree in computer science or related field, or equivalent experience 1 year of web development experience or equivalent in creating, developing and maintaining dynamic, data-driven web sites and web applications Working knowledge of the following: -Windows internet server technologies in large-scale web site hosting environments -VBScript and scripting for server administration -Windows Active Directory, ADSI and LDAP -Web standards and industry best practices for web design and web applications development -Working knowledge of Collage content management system -ADA / Section 508 accessibility guidelines and how they apply to the public sector Working knowledge of applications development best practices Experience with software development methodologies Experience in developing GUIs for web and standalone applications Familiarity with web usability issues and strategies Experience creating web applications and step-by-step training documentation Experience creating and presenting workshops on a variety of technologies Working knowledge of variety of industry-standard web applications technologies, including ASP, ASP.NET, JSP, Perl, and PHP Working knowledge of database applications and technologies, including Access, ODBC, SQL Server, mySQL, and XML Must possess excellent oral and written communication skills Must possess excellent application troubleshooting skills Must possess high attention to detail Must possess excellent critical thinking skills Ability to coordinate multiple, complex tasks and complete work to tight deadlines Ability to work under minimal supervision RECOMMENDED SKILLS FOR POSITION: Web applications development experience in higher education environment Working knowledge of Tomcat web server environment Working knowledge of Linux and Apache web server environments Experience developing server administration applications in windows environment Familiarity with open source web design and applications development tools and resources Familiarity with Windows DNS
