Question How to Make an Anchor in PDF and link to it from HTML document?

Does anyone know how to make an anchor in a PDF and link to it from HTML document? For instance, if I wanted to link to the anchor on page 3 like:
    Code:
    <a href="mypdf.pdf#page3">
    . Thank you.

    Rikahs,

It all starts with your base document. Create a bookmark in your original document, then publish the .pdf file in Acrobat, CutePDF, or whatever program you are using to create your portable documents (Acrobat is recommended). With the .pdf file now created, you are free to reference the bookmarked section from your HTML document. You can also find this information within the help documentation of Acrobat, CutePDF, etc. Good luck.

This is not making it open to my bookmarked page.
    Code:
    Ex. http://mysite.com/mypdf.pdf#page3
Maybe you can upload a simple pdf that I can examine.

Am not in the office today, and don't have Acrobat installed at home. =( That said, for your link to work, page 3 has to be bookmarked in the document that the PDFMaker used to create your .pdf file. Otherwise, it won't work - which sounds like your situation; no bookmark has been created in the document for the PDF reader to go to. In a nutshell, this is no different a task than creating a bookmark in a MS Word doc, then referencing the bookmark in the doc from a web doc on your local machine. The mechanics are the same; create the bookmark, then reference the bookmark. I am sorry that I cannot be more helpful at the moment; if I had remote access to my office machine, it would take me no time to throw together a brief illustration. Don't give up; keep at it.

I won't give up. But I did create the bookmark and the document using Acrobat Professional. ????

I am also interested in more information about this, if anyone can help. I found, on another thread in this forum (which is now closed) the following code snippet to address this issue:

    <a href="File.pdf#page=2" target="adobe_frame">Link</a>

This syntax works fine with Firefox, but, like the original poster on the other thread, I cannot get it to work in IE (6). That is, in IE, the PDF opens, but not to the correct page. (In Firefox, it opens the PDF to the correct page.)

rikahs, you mention using the Bookmark from the PDF file, but what is the correct syntax? I would have no idea what syntax to use in the link. I tried using the named Destination for the bookmark, but it also does not work in IE. It does work in Firefox.

    What am I missing here?

Well, after doing some more research, I found out why this does not work in IE. For anybody interested, according to the Adobe website Knowledge Base (http://www.adobe.com/support/techdocs/317300.html):

"Note: If you use UNC server locations (\\servername\folder) in a link, then set the link to open to a set destination using the procedure in the following section. If you use URLS containing local hard drive addresses (c:\folder\), then you cannot link to page numbers or set destinations. With Adobe Acrobat 7.0 products, a link to a page number only works if you use HTTP or HTTPS locations. UNC server locations will only work if you use the set destinations method outlined in the following section of this document."

FWIW, the destinations method also does not work if you are using a relative path (for example, to a PDF file in the same directory as the originating HTML file).
