Question

I have an autorefresh on my site because the content changes every few minutes. The problem is, when someone is reading that site, and is scrolling down, the autorefresh will bring him always back to the begining of the page and he has to scroll back to continue reading. As you can imagine this can be really annoying. Now, i have seen on some Web-Chats, they somehow refresh the chatwindow and you dont even see the refreshing process. The new postings are always added at the end of the site and if i scroll back to read some older postings, the new postings that are coming in doesnt make the browser scroll back to those new postings. I have no clue how they do that. So, it would be really great, if someone could help me on this. Thanx!

dude i was considering your problem and have a solution that sort of works.

check out this test page i whacked up. view the source. if you need expo email me but should be ok.

http://freespace.virgin.net/peter.s...pts/reload1.htm

im puzzled by the way it doesnt work though. as you see there is an alert box appearing with the page path and the script works. now try this page as look at the source.

http://freespace.virgin.net/peter.s...pts/reload2.htm

the same but no alert. alert does nothing anyway. whatsup? im gonna post about this cos its pissin me off.

anyway hope this helps a bit. you get the idea how you could do it client side.

for now dude
