Hi,
I don't know why in IE, my box length is fine, but in NN, it's way too long! And it seems that there is something with CSS Could anybody help? The page is at: http://www.guideclick.com/free-site-promotion/meta.htm (check on NN & IE and you'll see) Thanks a lot ------------------ http://new.123finder.com/ - Helps you find cool domains for FREE & Registers it for only $14.95/yr http://www.guideclick.com/ - Qualified webmaster resources (affiliate programs, web design, tips) ------ Son |

I have noticed that also. Except, in my case, I believe Netscape is correct and IE is way too short (count the number of characters you can fit in a field and note how the number is more accurate in Netscape than IE). The only thing you can do, I believe, is change the typeface that Netscape uses to display the text in the INPUT boxes (only Netscape supports this), so that it takes up the same amount as IE (or close).

I did try your method (counting)
And the weird thing here is that in my NN & IE, IE displayed the box with the right length while NN displayed like double!!! And I'm pretty sure that the problem is from CSS! Please help. My suggested solution wasn't counting, but changing the typeface that is used in netscape to display the fields. For example, <FONT FACE="Arial" SIZE="-2"><INPUT TYPE="TEXT"></FONT>.
You could also do the same with CSS, but you would have to do it in a fashion that it didn't get set for IE, otherwise weird things would start happening with positioning. |

Yay!!!! It works!
Thank you so much I used Courier size: -1 Oh, but why www.altavista.com, they also have a search box, use CSS, but they don't have that problem (the box looks exactly the same in NN & IE!) Do you know how would they do that? And again, many thanks! ![]() ------------------ http://new.123finder.com/ - Helps you find cool domains for FREE & Registers it for only $14.95/yr http://www.guideclick.com/ - Qualified webmaster resources (affiliate programs, web design, tips) ------ Son |

They probably figured out a way to do it with CSS so that it only affected one of the two browsers.
