Hi all URL

First off, i'm pretty new to HTML, and basically I can do the standard things...but there's one thing that's puzzling me.

I try and update my website daily, because that originally was the idea of it, but it's becoming a task to update. Basically I rename the main page to the date it was written and move it into the 'archive' folder. I then take the prepared 'template.htm' and insert the days text into that, save it as index.htm and then upload it.

I was wondering if there was an easier way for me to insert the text into the main page?
For example, I could leave the index.htm file well alone and just update the content in a file called 'today.htm' or a text file if needs be.
So is there any easier way for me to insert the text, using HTML code or something?

A friend of mine suggested it might need to use CGI scripts or something, but that's way beyond me at the moment lol
Although if needs be, i'll take the time to learn it - as it would be beneficial.

Thanks,
Hugheh.

You might want to take a look at http://www.macromedia.com/support/d.../create_ssi.htm and

Basically, you had to consider using CGI or any other scripting environment such as ASP, Cold Fusion or PHP to do the job, and very easily. Example in ColdFusion:

<cfinclude "today.htm">

However, if you want to avoid learning one of these, then see the link above. It tells you about SSI == Server Side Includes == how to insert instuctions in your code to load other pages + that your server (your ISP web server) should support that feature.
