More then on div tag ending

Hey I'm really new to this but I saw some code that I just can't figure out. The line of code follow

<div class="Sheet-tr"><div></div></div>

why would there be more then one ending tag for the element?
It is followed about a few more that looks just like that but a different class.

Thanks for helping me out, hope I didn't cause any problems with asking about this. I just couldn't Google a good answer for this.

Thanks again

Steve

It's a div inside a div. If you use indentation you can see the hierachy.
Code:
<div class="Sheet-tr">
     <div>this is the inner div</div>
</div>

The start of a <div> is that and the end is </div>

Your code has a div inside another div.

Code:
<div class= "bollocks"> contents of div here </div>
