Do you have one?
The one I used from Macromedia didn't work for macs. The next one I tried didn't work for IE5 with Flash 3 player (we use Flash 4). Hit me! Give me your best Flash detection script. ------------------ ¬ peterbe.com ¬ |

Although I have Flash, I've decided against using it so I've never pursued Flash detection. However, these two scripts, although not answering your question directly, might give you some ideas of how to detect the proper versions of Flash.

[/quote] One great way to do it is: Create a small Flash movie that loads on the first page. Make it small and the same color as the background. It's only function is to goto the opening page of the site as soon as it loads. If Flash is working, it'll go there. On the same first page, put a re-direction Meta tag on the page that will go to the Non-Flash page after a suitable time. This suitable time should allow for the Flash movie to load and play should Flash be present. The result that you get is: If Flash is present, the user will be taken to the Flash page (by the Flash movie) If Flash is not present, the user will be taken to the Non-Flash page by the meta tag. If you need more help with this, or if I haven't explained it clearly for you, email me at bob@elitegroup.on.ca cheers bob |
