    What is the best full screen background image size?

    Hi;

    I have a Jpg that is 2721 x 1806 px. I want to make it a size that it looks nice, centered and full screen on most popular browsers.

    What would be a good size for a full screen background image?

    Thanks

    1024x940 leaves a lot of blank space at the back.

    Very wrong.

    My monitors here are 1920 x 1080 pixels (desktop HD) which are pretty much the desktop standard these days. They are nothing compared to the iMacs here (2560 x 1440 pixels). Even iPhones are bigger (width-wise at least) then your suggestion at 1136 x 640. Based on your "suggestion" everything that I view the site on will have some overflowing background.

    It might not help much, but I've found this that explains at least one way to do it. It doesn't mention exact dimensions for the image that you use, but I'd suggest the biggest pixel dimensions that you can get without making the file size too large. There's nothing worse then waiting for a 500-700kb background image to load.

    im usually search for texture than can make the bg looks nice, however large pictures may load slowly & if u reduce the quality by time it will be ugly

    hi dude

    I'd suggest you that

    1440 x 900, or smaller size with a ratio of 1.6 to 1.

    Why so small?

    16:10 monitors are getting less common. 16:9 monitors are more common because that's the ratio HDTVs use.

    1920x1080px is a standard format but, you can either choose a bigger or smaller one and resize to fullscreen.
    Depends on your bandwith, needs (better graphic or performance) and visitors/day.

    Nah, the true pros go with 640x480, "optimized for Internet Explorer 4".

    There are certain words used by hackers to try to gain access to systems and manipulate data; therefore, the following words are restricted: "select," "delete," "update," "insert," "drop" and "null".
