I have protected the member's only area on my site with an .htaccess file. What I would like to know is how I can make it so people can enter their login name and password on the page, hit "submit" and be taken to the member's area. Any php code out there for this would be nice, too.
    THANKS!!

Put the php authenticating code in the top of the members area front page, then make it the action= in your auth form. If the pass info is valid print the actual page, otherwise print an error.

You could also use the webservers auth faculties instead of php. I use mod_auth_mysql to authenticate against a MySQL database and a php back end to manage users. They you can just link to the members page, get a login popup, authenticate and the page loads if the user info is correct.
