    Strange Behavior in Responsive design

I have a web site which is written mostly in PHP, but uses a responsive design template as a framework.
The main navigation menu is suddenly behaving strangely on a smartphone.

The Menu has 7 top level items and each items has multiple cascading sub-selections. The menu works fine on a computer. It also works fine on a computer when the browser window is resized to phone dimensions.

The odd thing is that on a phone, only the first top-level menu selection is active but the sub selections for that top level item are also active. Top level items 2-7 don't do anything when selected. However, If I select one of the sub-selections from Top level item 1, then suddenly the rest of the menu works fine.

I don't see anything obvious in the code which is different from one menu selection to another. Can anyone think of what the menu behavior would change after making a selection?

Any thoughts as to what I might investigate?

If you are using bootstrap then please check the grid system. I think this makes responsive for the large device but not for all device. learn about grid control to fix it.
