    var BottomURL=top.mainframe.location;
    var BottomWindowLocation=unescape(BottomURL);
    document.form.viewer.value=BottomWindowLocation;

    ok i have a textbox that displays the address of th ebottom frame.(i have a top and bottom frame). This textbox also works as a locatiion input so that au ser can type in an address/press enter and the bottom frame will show the page.

    This works for every page that starts with the domain but does not work if i go to something like.. www.nba.com...

    is there anyway i can get the location.href of the bottom frame when not in the current domain of the top frame?

    That is a restriction when using javascript for security reasons. You cannot access it when the URL is of another domain.

    I believe it is possible if you have a signed script, but I'm not sure that's worth the hassle.

    It would really not be worth the hassle as I believe even then you can only do that in NS and then using a signed script the user would probably get prompted to do so and that would get messy.
