    HTML is very easy to learn. It is a markup language and you can learn it in a couple of weeks.
    Using only HTML, you can't build the website you see online. You will have to learn CSS also.

    Start with HTML

    If you do you have a faster internet connection, watch some YouTube videos. Understand how to markup elements the tags for different elements.

    Then you can start adding designing and layouting the content using CSS language. It is also very easy to learn.

    List of Some Popular Website to Learn HTML

    * W3Schools.com
    * html.net

    Watch youtube videos and read articles on the above sites. I promise you can learn it very easily. These sites helped very much in learning web designing. Currently, I work for a web design company in Chennai. I learn about web designing more from online than I learned from the classrooms. You can also do that.

    I learned from htmlgoodies.com but the site seems to have changed from 20 years ago. Still looks free though and a lot of the original guy's tutorials look like they're on the site. I find his conversational writing style to be fun to read which is helpful for a dry subject. If you come across and article on that site by "Joe Burns" I think that's the original guy.

    @zomgmike I wanted to mention htmlgoodies but i was too tired to see if it still existed. I used it quite a bit for javascript learning. I actually learned more about html by using the view source feature. Yahoo! was the big site back then, so i broke down all of their tables to understand how tables worked. Also, Sir Tim Berners-Lee used to have an intro to html at CERN but i can't find that one now. I always leaned heavily on w3 content but it was too intelligent for me to follow back then. I was new to computers and programming. I also used the old Smart Computing magazine to learn web design.

    I'm happy that someone else here remembers htmlgoodies. I'm usually quiet about my age in a forum because alot of forums are full of young people willing to call you a dinosaur. LOL. I'm in my 40s now.
