Any risk in installing IIS?

the ocmpany i work for wants to set up an intranet here int he office. just a simple website with policies and maybe a message board or something. The server here is running windows server 2003 and does not have IIS installed.

I have a server at home that has XP and IIS,PHP,MySQL and such... so im not new to this.

there is nothing SUPER important currently on the server here in the office but i really do not want to lose access to anything that is currently running on there.

So if i go ahead in install IIS is there a chance some of the current setting could be tampered with and prevent it from running how it is now (plus IIS).

just want to play it safe.

thanks

I've never seen any problems caused by installing IIS. But when you have IIS running, if http is exposed to the outside world you need to pay attention to your server security.

Doug G is perfectly right, you shouldnt see any issues & if there is a chance of been seen out in the wilderness(read Internet) then ensure you use at least a firewall. Make sure you keep your machine well patched too. Be careful as well as to who will be able to access the files up there.
