ASP.NET App gives "Cannot find server or DNS Error" on IIS5.1

I have had an ASP .Net application running on my laptop for a while and recently I had to change the domain of my computer. Which also included changing my static IP adressed to be Automatically obtained from DHCP.
I'm running IIS5.1 on Win XP Pro.

Since then my application did not work at all. Was not able to get to the default page of the application. Hence, I uninstalled and re-installed IIS5 and now I'm able to get to the first page of my application (which is Default.aspx). This page is used as a log in page and there is a "login" button. When I click on this I get the error "Cannot find server or page, Cannot find server or DNS Error".

Would greatly appriciate if some one can help.

This sounds like a code problem, not an IIS problem. You will have to troubleshoot, what is the url that causes the error? Does the page actually exist?

This is not a code problem, all of the content which is required by the application exists. Basically all of the applications which I have show the same behaviour.

As I mentioned when I click on the "log in" button it will take me to the same aspx page, but with different content on it. i.e. I'm using ascx files to change the content on the Default.aspx when the user logs in.

You are going to have to do some basic troubleshooting. How are you testing your page, from the xp box or another? Do you use localhost, the computer name, IP, or what in your url. Does a basic html page get served up by IIS. How about basic asp? Can you ping the server using the same domain name you use in your testing URL? etc. etc.

Tx for taking the time to reply Doug.

I have tried accessing my box (the application) from another machine and it is giving me the same error, it is not even getting to the default page which I see when I access the site from the same box). I tried ping and it shows me the IP but the request times out. Does this look like a TCP/IP issue on my box?

I have tried using localhost, the machine name as well as the IP, all with the same result. Basic asp pages get served (tried this using the http://localhost/IISHelp url). The url of my application is http://localhost/IMS.Web

Yes, although not 100%. Servers and routers can be configured to block ping requests. If you know you should be able to ping the server and the request times out, then you do have a network problem that's preventing requests from reaching the web server.

This is the latest on my problem. Since I mentioned earlier that I changed domains and IPs on the machine which caused this issue, what I did was to setup a static IP & DNS and WINS and restarted the machine. Guess what, the application worked.

But then I ran in to the issue of trying to debug the application through VS .NET and it keeps saying "unable to start debuging on the web server". I'm pretty sure that I have done all the steps which are required to be able to debug a .NET app.

Is there a problem with IIS and the TCP settings on my machine, since I have changed it. I have attached a netstat command, can you analyze it for me and let me know if you see a problem.
