2003 Enterprise server. We have several employees who manage different directories on our intranet. We only want to give them specific rights to those directories and not the entire website. Im building a new server, and testing it out and this is the way I would like it... however, when I go through the process of adding a user, they get rights to the entire website rather than just the directory itself.
Im using frontpage 2003 to remote edit the site, which is what the employees will be using as well... How do I make the users able to manage a specific directory rather than the entire site? Thanks! |

Have each directory's security context run as the user.

Huh?
Well what I have done playing with this is gone into the frontpage administration utility, created a new role called "test" added a user to that role that has authoring rights. Then it built the group, removed the inheritance from the top level, and assigned that role group which my employee is a member of to the directory in question. Doesnt quite work yet, so not sure what Im doing, as they still have full control to do whatever they want on that intranet website even tho the permissions at the top have been removed... |
