ok.. so we're running a forum and we've came to the conclusion that the problem we are having is basicly a SQL problem.. here is a little back ground..

ok.. so we are running phpBB 2.0.11, (myself AND a friend.. diff boards, same server)..

and on both boards... when posting... if there are any 'strange characters' it will cut off the post where that character starts... i.e-

if i were to post this =

Quote:
Calibre- ‘Maybe Sometime‘ (Signature)
Raf & Ill ‘Logic- "Shoot Out‘ (31)
Calibre - ‘Is it you‘ (Signature)

when i hit 'submit' all that would show up in the post is this=
Quote:
Calibre-

the ‘ (or any other strange character) stops the rest of the post?

any ideas?

we are running the following:
Version of PHP:4.0
Which database server and version: Win 2000 IIS 5
MYSQL - 4.1.7

This problem did not arise until we swapped over toa dedicated server with MySQL..

ANY HELP would be appreciated..

we are not sure if this is a php problem or what.. if we could handle this in iis.. would save a lot of trouble seeing that if it is a PHP problem..there are going to be a million and 1 different places we have to fix...

This problem isn't an IIS issue at all, it's a SQL and/or coding issue.

I'd recommend fixing the code even if there is a lot to fix, in the long run you won't have to depend on something outside your code to keep it safe.
