"Blank" IIS Log entries
I have been seeing quite a few "blank" IIS log entries over the past few months, although I've never thought anything about them. As I was debugging a specific coding problem on my website, I noticed these "blank" entries again and though I'd ask the pros what they mean.
By "blank", I don't mean the entry is completely empty, it's just missing all of the usual data. Here is an example: 2004-08-19 00:03:32 67.10.38.209 - W3SVC3 GWEB01 206.15.139.250 80 - - - 500 0 0 0 188 - - - - - As you can see, directly folowing the port number (80 in this case, standard HTTP port) there are serveral "-" placeholders where there is normally page information. The first "-" is usually a GET or POST call, although I can't find any documentation defining what "-" means. Any help on this would be greatly appreciated. It's tough trying to google for a problem such as this and I haven't had any luck. Thanks, stanleypane |

I'll guess the 500 is an HTTP 500 server error.
Somewhere there is a definition of the columns in a log file.
