Can't add new application mapping
Hi, when I try to add a new application mapping -- ssinc.dll for the .html extension -- the "OK" button "add/edit extension mapping" dialogue is grayed out, so I can't do it. This wasn't the case in the past, but I can't figure out what I've done to loose this ability.
Any hints? |

Perhaps your user account doesn't have the necessary permissions?

I am working on with IIS set up on my own laptop. I log into windows as the administrator. Shouldn't I be able to control the permissions on my own machine? How do I do that? |

Yes, it you're the Administrator on your own computer you should be able to control any permissions or other settings. I don't know why you can't add another mapping, unless you're maybe at the wrong level in the MMC tree. |

Doug, 2 questions: 1. How does an administrator control permissions that would allow a user to add a mapping? 2. What is the appropriate "level in the MMC tree" for adding application mappings? I am in IIS, right-clicking on "web sites" under "my computer" and selecting properties -- still just getting a grayed-out "OK" button in the dialogue, so I can't add the mapping |

Try navigating to a specific website and try the mappings there.
I don't know specifics on permission settings, but as the computer admin you can control security for the registry and files & folders, and probably sections in the metabase. Group policies might have settings that will lock out certain users. |

Hi mghfaust,
I came across the same problem yesterday trying to add a mapping to an XP Pro PC. I eventually got it to work. I thought I had done this by turning "Index this resource" off. I did this because when I compared an extension that was already defined (and which allowed me to edit it), it had this switch off. Later on yesterday however, I went to add another application, and I was back with the problem. I will let you know if I ever find a solution. Keep smiling (-: AnthonyK |
