Can't start IIS
Hi
I'm new to IIS so I'll try to explain this the best I can. I wanted to install IIS on my PC so that I can do local previews of my work. So I have Win2000Pro I installed IIS via "Add/Remove Programs->Add/Remove Windows Component". It seems to have installed with no errors. So I start PWM and click on the "Start" button and nothing happens. In the winTray the Icon is there but with the Red X on it. I checked under services and all I see there for IIS is "IIS Admin Service" running, there is no reference to PWM (IIS Server) at all. Any help would be appreciated. thanks |

Look for the World Wide Web Publishing service. And I'd leave the PWM alone and use the IIS manager instead.

WWW publishing service
thanks, Thats the problem I cannot find either of those.
I thought that maybe Win2000 renamed it to something else. |

If you don't see the WWW service in the services mmc, then your install didn't go according to plan. Make sure you're and administrator user when you install IIS. Look in the computer event log for possible error messages.
A normal IIS install sets IIS to run automatically on bootup. |

Can't see the IIS Manager
Quote:
Doug, I have the same problem. I can see this PWM but I don't see the IIS Manager. What do I need to do? Believe me, I have tried to install IIS several times now without any luck. |
