Can't start the ISS due to The World Wide Web Publishing service hung on starting.
Hi,
A few days ago I un installed semantic anti virus 2003 and installed the 2004. From that point I see in the event viewer that the: "The World Wide Web Publishing service hung on starting.". There fore I can't connect to local host. I can't restart the IIS server for the same problem. Does someone know how can fix the problem with the World Wide Web Publishing service ? Or should I re install the IIS server? The IIS is depending on the World Wide Web Publishing service and the last one can't be re start manually. Thanks in advance Gal |

This condition can happen when you update zonealarm, maybe the same fix will work.
Open Services and set the startup for the WWW service (and the SMTP service if you use it) to Manual Startup. Reboot. After the computer is rebooted, start the WWW service and see if you get a message about allowing IIS to act as a server. Set the service back to Automatic startup.
