Cannot run ASPX files in IIS 5.1

Cannot run ASPX files in IIS 5.1
Added the IIS (5.1) component to my Windows XP pro workstation. When I try to run a file (e.g. http://serverNmae/siteBane/myfile.aspx, the browser displays the source code but it does not run the actual code.
So far, this is what I have done:
1. Browser displays the HTML files correctly
2. The browser displays the ASP files correctly
3. Created a mime (.aspx /text-plaint)-did not work so rolled it back
4. Used the registration tool (aspnet_regiis –i)
Using the following environment:

-Standalone system
-Windows XP (32-bit)-SP3
-.NET2 +SP2; NET 3.5
-IE 7.0
-Install latest hot fixes
Any suggestions are greatly appreciated

Check file permissions, make sure the iis user has execute permissions on the aspx file.
