Disaster Preparation - Where to Begin

I recently ventured into the world of web hosting. As a web designer I have about 30 sites, some of which are for some very important 4 and 5 star hotels. I got a dedicated server from Godaddy running Windows Server 2003 and IIS 6. I also got an external Cisco firewall for my server. For backing up my sites I use what I think is called an FTP Server which I can ONLY access through the remote desktop connection to my dedicated server. When I set up and manage domains I log into an https connection using a wysiwyg interface programm called PLESK. PLESK takes care of the settings on the server, in particular those for IIS6. So, where am I going with all of this? As a newbie I am interested in covering my butt in the event of a disaster, such as a server crashing, etc. Can someone point me in the direction of some good resources for what I am after, such as minimizing down time if something were to happen, saving my settings, etc. Any tips would be appreciated. Thanks. Tom

You should be able to find tons of information with a google search for disaster recovery.

My recommendation is to begin writing a formal disaster recovery manual, then review it and review it for all the problems you can consider happening. Expect your document to get pretty long. Focus on "If this happens then do this ..."

BTW there is information in the IIS online help, you could start there.
