Error while starting IIS

Hi,

While i start IIS, i get an error message that "The service not respond to the start r control request in timely fashion" like message.
I have reinstalled my windows 2k, reinstalled the IIS... But could not make it out... Anyone please help me

A software firewall might cause this, if you're running a firewall try turning it off for testing purposes.

It looks metabase corruption.

Check if you have back of metabase.

If you have then you could do clean install of IIS again.
To do that rename Inetsrv and Inetpub folder - you could do that in safe mode.

Once IIS is up and running - restore metabase.bin file from backup using IIS manager.

Where can i find the backup for metabase.bin file...Can you pls send me the path where it may stored in windows 2000 prof...And how to restore pls...

If you have access to a w2k computer with a working IIS, look for details in the IIS online help which should come up if you open localhost/iishelp

Otherwise there may be details on metabase backup/restore somewhere in the msdn library at http://msdn.microsoft.com/library

Hi,
The localhost/iisHelp is not working and i could find the metabase.bin. So anyone can tell me how should i proceed next step pls
