Exchange Server
Hello All,
Do I need Exchange Server in order for my SMTP Server to work if yes, Do Exchange Server comes with Windows 2000 Server. Please advise. Thanks. |

Thanks for the response bdreyer, but what do you mean by "no frills" email utilities. Do I need to install this utility before my STMP service could start? Please advise. Thanks.

The email services that are included with Windows Server are not installed by default, you have to add them by adding windows components (control panel, add/remove programs...).
by utilities (plural) I mean SMTP Server, POP3 Service, and IMAP service... and by no frills, I mean just that... the included services don't have many features. So, in short, yes you need to install it, and it will most likely work just fine unless you are trying to run a business with it, then I'd go out and purchase a full fledged mail utility program like Exchange... |
