Getting IIS to serve up some site(s)
Hey,
I am running Win2x, so I assume that it is IIS 5.0 that i have on this machine. I had to access the machine via control panel/Add Windows Controls/ Internet Services Manager. I am not sure what to do once inside the Internet Services Manager. One tutorial said that if I right click on my machine, I would have the option New and that from there I could choose web-site. However, when I right click, I do not have the option of New. Any suggestions as to how I should proceed in order to get a website accessible from this machine? |

A further situation has occured: with the new installation of the IIS component, when I now tell the Web Matrix program I used to build asp.net files that I want to run the page(s) I have made, I am given the option to either run the page using Web Matrix's Server, or to Create an IIS Virtual Root.
If I choose the option for creating an IIS virtual root, then when the pages are displayed, only text is visible -- none of my checkboxes, or buttons, or labels are available. I probably have to configure the IIS with the .net settings, right? Thanks for any help. |

If you are on W2K Pro you are limited to a single website. You'll normally want to create new virtual directories for your different web projects.
