We have a very strange problem. We have an IIS application that uses Crystal Report. (We are not sure if this is part of the problem. But we think it is likely.)
Sometimes IIS hangs. When this happens there is no response when I request a page, but there is also no time-out. (Or a very long one.) When I stop IIS and start it again it keeps the same. When I stop IIS and request a page, I get a message that no connection could be made, as to be expected. When I then start IIS again and request a page, I get to many connections. This I find very strange. It is my first connection, so how is it possible to have to many connections? And why the difference between stopping and starting with and without requesting a page? Another strange thing about the problem, is that we can not find any logic in it. Sometimes the IIS application is running for weeks without problems, but we also have had that we needed to reboot only about ten minutes after the last reboot. In both ways the only solution to get IIS working again is rebooting the system. This is not acceptable, because there are other services running also on this sytem. Untill now we got this problem only on a XP machine. The machines running 2000 server did not have this problem. So we are suspecting that it is a XP problem. Is there anybody who has an idea what could be the problem? When hanging, I ran ADPlus on IIS. This generates very big files. Anyone pointers on how to read those? |

First, I don't know what is ADPlus
There are no inherent issues with IIS on XP that I know of. Likeliest is some bad asp code that is causing memory leaks. You can use perfmon to try to pin such stuff down. Or possibly some interference from antivirus script blocking or firewall software. Or not enough resources in the computer. XP Pro is limited to 10 connections btw.

But thenI would expect the problem not only manifesting itself on XP Pro. Quote:
When I stop and start XP PRO there should be no connections. When I then get a to many connections with the first request, there is something else happening. |

Not really. This is a link to ADPlus. I allready did run this after a hang. But I do not understand how to read the very big output. |
