Help with IIS 5.1 web services

I've been running a web site under Apache for several years, but am now trying to setup IIS to run the site. I'm pretty much a newbie with IIS so I could use some help. Here is where I am at. I have the site under wwwroot and can access via the web only if I give the ip address (ip addr)/website. My domain is registered and worked ok until my Linux box took a lightning strike last week. so accessing as www etc. doesn't work. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Frank

I should have mentioned that I also can't do localhost/website, but can go to another network machine and do servername/website. I must have really hosed the configuration.

Start by reviewing the setting in the IIS manager, found in control panel - administrative tools. There is extensive online help there that may assist you in finding your problem, although from your description it sounds more like a network/firewall/dns problem, not an IIS problem.

Thanks for the reply

I have the firewall turned off and since I can get to the site via the ip address, that would seem to eliminate that as a possibility.

I think that I just haven't defined the virtual directory correctly since I can't do localhost/website. I'm surprised that server/website works though (from a network computer). I have looked all over the web and haven't found anything useful. I'm probably just going to rip out iis and install apache, since I know I can make that work. Thanks.
