Angry Help with IIS & XP Pro

I've seen a lot of posts - but no answers on this problem - and it's killing me

I've tried everything i can think of ... except smashing this box with a sledge hammer.

I'm running XP Pro sp2 - i've installed and re installed IIS about 100 times with no success

I cannot open the default page by IP address or locahost or by machine name

my firewalls are either disabled or every port i can think of is exposed.

please please please please please help me

before i jump.

How are you trying to open the page, and what happens?

Were you the local administrator user when you installed IIS?

I forgot to mention that i've got a linksys router - i'm not network savy enough to know if that might be causing port problems...or a URL problem?
