Hi.
I got dup'd. I was on a massively large site and got a request to download something called exp.wmf which i thought was an audio plugin for some file on the site. anyway, now, when i visit the site, i get TONS of advertisements. i should have known better. my bad. anyway, they all come from http://209.190.16.26/ and I am using 2003 Server IIS6. I would like to be able to completely block this IP address from having any kind of access to my network. How do i do this? thanks. |

IP-Based Blocking?
ok. thanks. i should have known - that is the convention on linux.
i did some reading on the link you provided - it seems that the win convention is to block such as: 0.0.0.0 ads.doubleclick.net but, i would like to block by IP address: 0.0.0.0 209.190.39.42 i didnt see anything in the literature that suggests that this is OK also. is IP-based blocking equally allowed? |

Sorry, I only included that link as a background...you should be able to block any IP... try googling "hosts file" and you will find a lot more information... there are also lots of pre-defined files that have known offensive sites/IPs that can be used... or
There are also scripts that will keep your HOSTS file current with the latest offenders and other that will lock it and keep it from being hijacked etc... I think all you need to do is list the offending IP/site |
