We have a Windows 2000 Server for our webserver and our doing a site re-desing mainly in pure CSS and file sizes are quite large.
Are there any recommendations for HTTP compression? Looking for something that has good reviews using IIS - willing to pay for the program :: doesn't need to be free but it would always be nice. |

In today's networked world, unless you have dialup users, if the files sizes are large enough to worry about perhaps you should revisit the way the site is designed with the intention to shrink the file sizes.
That said, there is some kind of built-in http compression in web servers, maybe in W2000 IIS5, but I don't know if it's on or off by default. I don't know of any 3rd party programs, since whatever compression you use has to be already known by the browser or you'll need to install something on all your user's browsers.
