IIS 5.0 services crashes on a daily basis

Hello All,

This is my first post here. I am having problems with IIS. My IIS crashes on a regular lbasis. say after an hour or so ... I am having to restart IIS. I have only 2 files ... an HTML file and an ASP file that says "this is a test".

What can I do to resolve this problem or see what is causing the trouble.

I am currently using Win 2000 Pro with IIS 5.0

Any help would be greatly appreciated
-Craig

You'll have to do some troubleshooting.

I'd start by reviewing the windows event logs and the IIS logs for any clues.

I'm sorry, but if you're asking this you'll need to spend some time getting familiar with Windows, and how to administer a windows computer. Start with the online help in your windows computer. Visit http://msdn.microsoft.com and you'll find all the MS documentation online, including the IIS documentation that will help you with the IIS logs.

Did you look in any of the Event logs? They are pretty self-explanatory. Did you notice the Help menu?
On most windows systems the IIS logs are in \windows\system32\logfiles\w3svc

Check out for any errors(Red error x balls ) in any of the events . Check out this to know about event logs
http://www.microsoft.com/technet/windowsvista/library/help/e1459340-eaed-40c7-93a0-36bd933bdd7e.mspx?mfr=true . In the Run> type "Logfiles" and open the W3svc folder that contain the logfiles for your specific site.
By the way you got any antivirus installed ? Disable that and see.
