IIS 5.1 XP Pro

Dear IIS Experts,

Sometime back my DELL PC hard disk crashed. After I reinstalled Windows XP Pro on the new hard disk, everything seems to be working except for IIS .

IIS gets installed fine, but when I open it up from Administrator tools and click on the computer name, I keep getting the error:

"You have been denied access to this machine."

There was a weird message in Event Viewer:

"Windows couldn't log the RSoP (Resultant Set of Policies) session status. An attempt to connect to WMI failed. No more RSoP logging will be done for this application of policy."

This error appeared under source "Userenv" when I tried using the default "Administrator" user to login to the machine. When I used the other users, this message message was not shown.

No idea what this means.

I hvae tried uninstall using Windows component and then adding it back, but the problem persists.

I really need to get the IIS started ASAP.

I would very much appreciate any help to get this resolved.

Thanks
Anik

You didn't by any chance install IIS as a non-administrator user? Or maybe you have some other policies installed on your computer that are interfering with IIS.

You can always try to uninstall IIS and reinstall.

Well he/she's already ruled out those two possibilities seeing as you need admin privs to install, and he/she's already said he/she's tried uninstalling and reinstalling.
