IIS 5.1/XP PRO after installation problem

I am slowly approaching Web programming and I encountered a problem after installing IIS 5.1 on XP PRO SP1 from the OS original CD (italian version if that matters). What happens is that following what seems like a clean installation (using the default options as proposed by Windows installer) many system function seem slowed down A LOT, for example I can not access any folder properties or sharing information in Windows explorer or open the system information page. In order to restore the system integrity all I have to do is to uninstall IIS while running in protected mode because Windows installer will lock when removing IIS in normal operation mode. Any help would be appreciated, thanks, this is holding back my learning schedule!

Leo

Were you an Administrator user when you installed IIS? If not, uninstall it, reboot, login as an Administrator and reinstall.

Yep, I installed as Administrator. Installation was performed with firewall, antivirus and network disabled. As a matter of fact installation seems OK, the problem arises after rebooting following the installation. Thanks

Problem solved

Not that it really makes sense, but what I had to do was to remove ISS and install it back again one more time. The system worked fine but the web server did not. So once again I removed ISS, installed it back and now I've got myself a working web server! Such a nonsense, I am positive all (I believe 7 of them) of my previous installation had gone the same way resulting in an unstable system. I guess it's not over though, usually problems going away by themselves are quick to come back. Thanks

Exclamation Help Me Please!

Hi Doug, Serviceguy and all.

I have the exact same problem. Whenever I try to access the IIS manager (through the control panel or the command line) after restarting the system, nothing happens. I can't view my ASP scripts... basically the IIS thing won't work. It does work after the "succesfull" installation, but it won't when I shut down the system and restart again.

And yes, whenever I try to uninstall (because the computer becomes very slow after IIS installation) it hangs like 30 or 40 minutes

It's been a whole week since I've been struggling with this stupid windows thing

PLEASE HELP ME!!
